Do Not Hide Yourself
Hey, College Girl!
This topic came so abruptly to me. So random.
It all started when I wanted to take a break from social media, specifically Instagram. Normally, my social media is a creative outlet for me. A space where I am not told to be quietyor that I should shy away from. However, with job applications and the responsibilities of womanhood and finisheing the semester strong, I retreated into my own world. Maybe to an unhealthy extent unknowingly.
All of a sudden, after casually scrolling on TikTok I receive a notification, “Love your content, keep posting!” I was shocked. I had already been so comfortable with not being seen. I had already enjoyed the feeling of not needing to show up. Why now? I mean, at this point, I was not sure about what to even post considering the amount of content I had already covered. Plus it’s grind time…right?
Well God and the Universe made it very clear that I was very much needed. And so are you! You are probably thinking,
“Well, what makes me unique?”
“I’m not ready.” “My time is not now.”
“I don’t have the support and no one already listens to me!”
“I don’t think I can do it.”
Babygirl, someone is listening to you. Someone is watching you. Someone is inspired by you. There are many content creators but there is always that one person who speaks to you. There are many love songs but not all remind you of your first love. There are many comic books but only one makes you laugh as hard. There are many talented hairstylists but only one makes you glow the way you desire.
We are each gifted with one or multiple gifts and someone in this world will feel touched by your delivery. You do not need support to get started, you just need self-belief. You just need to believe that you can do it, that you will be consistent, that you will show up, and that you will follow through with your goals for YOU! This is not for Mom, Dad, or friends. This is for you! & of course, this is deeper than you. You are a vessel and your corpse can not go to waste. This is no time for fear. This is no time to be shy. This is no time to act as if you are just an orb floating on a rock called Earth.
The world is hungry for your taste. We want to know about you, your mind, your craft! Through trial and error, attempt and failure, practice, and presence, you will get better. You will be molded into who you are called to be. But that is only if you show up and stop hiding yourself.
College Girl, we need to hear from you. We need to see you. The world is thirsty for your impact.
So decide. today and moving forward, that you will stop hiding.
Sincerely,
Pitra
