this is why your season is difficult
Dear College Girl,
Have you ever felt like when all things are supposed to go up they start to go down? I felt this too. It is almost like the season that you look forward to the most seems to be the season that feels like the worst. As if God is throwing stones at you, as though your world is crumbling–losing friends left and right, going through depression, losing weight, rejection after rejection for jobs and it feels like “what is my degree for if you won’t take me?!”
I get it.
This is your pruning season. Pruning is defined as trim by cutting away dead or overgrown branches or stems, especially to increase fruitfulness and growth. As a child, when you scrape your skin, the old skin gets left behind and you start to bleed. This open scab feels painful, leaky, disgusting, and so annoying because you know it will take a couple days before the new skin begins to form. You know the new skin will come but it is the fact that you scraped your skin in the first place, causing you to experience the bleeding. Through this healing process, you are just waiting for the day you do not have to wear the bandage anymore without feeling discomfort.
This analogy applies to the season of our life where we are being stripped away of a reality we once knew. This is a realignment that you are being positioned into and it requires a new YOU. A new perspective, a new mindset, a new physical body, a new walk, and a new talk. It is so important that we do not skip over this but come to terms with the fact that it is here to stay. This is the perfect time to ask yourself, “where am I being called to?” “what have I been asking God for?” “Do I always ask for a big purpose?” “Do I always ask to be shown my purpose?” Well, you have answered your own question. When you ask for bigger, sometimes God sees that as the bare minimum for the extremity of your light. What I mean by this is, we think we are asking for our exact assignment but it does not compare to the plate of luxury we are destined for!
With great destiny calls for great responsibility. If we want to be in our best mindset, financial status, and be with the best people for us, we are always going to be called to look within. Before we achieve, we must be willing to receive. We can not walk into a room without understanding the energy of the room. God does not want you to be underprepared, God wants you to be overprepared for any arrows that may come your way. Faith without works is dead. Therefore, you can not expect to receive what you desire without doing the work to carry the gift, nurture the gift, or water the plant accordingly!
Understanding that your bad habits have to change, your schedule needs to change, your circle needs to change, your mindset needs to change is imperative to this path. Take the lesson day by day and do not rush the healing process.
Sincerely,
Pitra
