Dear College Girl,

You are so talented. You have so many goals, so many ambitions, and so many projects you want to take on. & I know you can do it all at once. But the truth is: all it takes is one.

When you live in a state of scarcity you are always tempted to live as if you need many options on your timing. Key words: your timing. Maybe you have always lived to fight for yourself or maybe you were always around people who had the kind of opportunities you always wanted but never had. Maybe it is your fear stopping you from taking action. I don’t know, but you do.

Maybe it is that every time you take 10 steps forward you feel as though you are pushed 20 steps backwards. What we don’t realize is we are set back sometimes because we may be moving too fast… or in the wrong direction. We often think we know what is best and, truthfully, we should trust our intuition. However, it is okay to trust the process when you see things not working in your favor. In this rough season, have faith. In this waiting season, keep applying yourself. The process does not take long not because we don’t deserve it, but in that waiting season, we are being built for bigger. We are being built to be prepared and not a work in progress. The Divine wants us to be ready for the season we are praying for.

So when that one door opens, you are ready. Because the truth is there are many options but there is always one that will take you to greater heights. Do not settle because it is all you have. It is okay to wait for the one.

All you need is that one job offer.

All you need is one friend.

All you need is one book to change your mindset.

All you need to do is send that one email.

All you need is to attend that one meeting.

& boom. It’s yours.

We have grown into the habit of putting too many eggs in our basket when all we have to do is set our eyes on one mission, be patient, and move forward.

So College Girl, it is normal to feel defeated, lost, and uncertain. But it is not okay to sit in those emotions through times of uncertainty or when your One has not arrived yet. Keep going because you never know the next one is the one.
