If You Wanted to, You Would

Hey, College Girl!

As much as that man would have if he wanted to, you would have gone after your dreams if you wanted to.

We oftentimes like to make an excuse for ourselves while taking great lengths to hold others accountable. We are responsible for our journey, destination, and the playing course of our lives. This does not mean that every accident or negative circumstance that comes about is our fault, but we are in control of how we handle the things that come our way. Where I am headed is the fact that we may not pay enough attention to where we can pick up the pieces to take action in our lives because we are giving too many excuses. When we let opportunities pass by or do not apply pressure to our dreams, we tell the universe we must not want it that bad. Now, I am a firm believer in working smarter over working harder, however, there is an effort that needs to be applied towards taking the necessary steps.

Take scholarships for example. There are many scholarships out there that MANY students apply for. Most times, there are only 3 lucky winners. It is not enough to say that because there are many potential candidates for this scholarship we should not apply, especially when we know how much money is out there in academia. Your scholarship may not come directly from your dream school, but there are a plethora of programs and financial support through FAFSA that are available. The truth of the matter is, when something is meant for you it will happen. Therefore, do not sit back waiting for blessings to come your way without doing your due diligence and taking responsibility for your actions.

I love this topic because as much as those around us are responsible for upholding their word, we forget that we owe ourselves loyalty. We owe ourselves a good life, that beautiful car, that full-ride scholarship, that wonderful vacation, and so much more. If we know we are destined for such a high-level life, why not be loyal to our journey? Why sit back and watch others fulfill the dreams you always wanted to live? Let me be clear when I write that it is never too late to be devoted to yourself! People around you may tell you to take one path when you have a vision for another. People may tell you that it is too late because of their perception of you when all you can think of is ‘what if?’ What if it worked out even though you got distracted and wanted to get back on track? What if the only thing stopping you is fear? What if all it takes is looking yourself in the mirror and saying affirmations?

We owe it to ourselves to be a woman of our word. Let us not be living hypocrisies. Even writing this is helping me be a woman of my word and uphold myself to the high standards I may also have for those around me. A part of going after what you want is knowing your worth. You are so worthy and the position we are in right now may be too low for what our essence resembles. For example, if all of your ‘friends’ only talk about boys but you crave purpose and learn how to make multiple streams of income, you are operating in a low vibrational environment. What you want and where you stand can not coexist. You are being called to walk away so that you can see, hear, and feel your calling.

So step into your light. Let go of fear and take the first step. If you want to be great, you will do what it takes to be great.

Sincerely,

Pitra
